Laughable College Debt

So here I am reading an article about a woman who still owes 97,000 in debt for her time at an expensive college. The article is set up as a sob story and how the paper-mills are taking advantage of poor naive people and give us the example of one Ms Cortney Munna. Ms Munna took out over $140,000* in loans in pursuit of her “higher education” degree. None of this is new of course, many of us are already aware of the marginal utility of most college degrees. But the best part was her course of study.

10 points if you already guessed it….

Course of study: Religion and Womyn’s Studies

*exact total is unknown, but the article does say that she obtained a $40,000 loan after she “already amassed debt well into the five figures

I am guessing she funded a lavish lifestyle on that too.

    Oh boo-hoo!

May she and her like-minded systyrs all remain in huge debt, for the rest of their natural lives.

I had the wymmyn’s studies, but not the religious one.

One wonders…what sort of religions does one study while getting a degree in wimmin’s studies?

Both her and her mum are freaking idiots. With signs. Signs that say ‘don’t be like me’.

The funniest part of it all is how she could only land a $22/hr job at a photography studio. One presumes that said job doesn’t involve “modeling”.

Any guy who would touch that gal and the mega-debt that comes packaged with her would be certifiably insane. She better hope that she can find and catch a desperate rich mangina.

I would also guess that she would be qualified for the same job without any college education.

She should stay in debt and have to pay it back herself. Certainly I don’t want someone who has the equivalent of a house payment in debt servicing a loan for a degree that they are statistically unlikely to use at all. So many women leave the workforce once married that it is ridiculous to expect a man to take on that debt since she will no longer be paying for it.

I am on a dating site and I see SO many women trumpeting their schooling or their desire to go back to school. They see great things in that whereas I see a status seeking chick with tons of bad debt that can’t be shed, ever.

    Hale,
She could most certainly do the photography job without that degree. Certainly a few community college courses in photography would have been helpful in getting such a job, but that could have been done for maybe 2,000 and she could have paid for it with cash.

Oh. Good one. Gaia, too, for that matter.

Not just status seeking. It is the best time of their lives and they are seeking to prolong it, at any cost. Independence, Youth, no obligations, 24/7 party. Daddy still paying the bills, (or banker playing the role of daddy with no expectation or plan on how t pay it back). Guys realize that eventually, they have to get a job and start paying it back.
