Study: Link Between Intelligence And Monogamy

Researchers at a British university found that men with higher IQs place greater value on monogamy and sexual exclusivity than their less intelligent peers.

But the connection between conventional sexual morality and intelligence is not mirrored in women, it seems.

The researchers could find no evidence that clever women are more likely than the general population to remain faithful.”

Some say that this is because the intelligent men are more likely to lie about cheating, but the fact that intelligent women are no less likely to cheat than less intelligent women puts the lie to this explanation. If intelligent men are smart enough to lie about it, than so are the intelligent women but this isn’t what the study found. Or alternatively, the intelligent women DO lie about it and are cheating at higher rates than are admitted to in the referenced studies.

No woman would lie about such a thing. It is too important.

I no longer an amazed by the wild conclusions sociologists reach in their limited studies.

    Dan

They did not give an exact definition, but I think the clue was in this line “The researchers could find no evidence that clever women are more likely than the general population to remain faithful.””

Since they are contrasting that women don’t remain as faithful, I think it is fairly safe to assume that they are talking about personal fidelity and not so much as valuing that in their partner. Altho I think that they would also value it in their women too. There is some evidence that the more intelligent also don’t do as well with women so would have fewer chances and would therefor want exclusivity.

And for your number 3, good point!
